The cover is superb with a signature from Jancis on the front ‘To Brenda – best wishes and happy birthday – Jancis Harvey’, the spine is clearly legible. The labels are excellent and the vinyl plays beautifully, with some clicks that don’t impact on the enjoyment of this superb and rare album.

This was Jancis’s second album, but her first in a series on the Westwood label. This is a more folk orientated album than her first album, which is evident on the self-penned title track, which is an excellent opener, followed by the upbeat traditional ‘Three jolly rogues of Lynn’. This is followed by ‘Housewives lament’, which was found in a lady’s handbag during the American Civil War – but as you will hear, not much has changed for housewives?  ‘Crimson sunset’, another of Jancis’s own compositions, is a superb finish to Side 1, with delicate vocals and great lyrics. Alec Anness (guitar and autoharp) also shares the vocal duties on ‘Billy Grimes’ to great effect. ‘Angeline’ is beautifully sung, while the last track ‘A week before Easter’ is a great way to finish an album. One of the lost albums, but this is a real treat when you re-discover it.
