The cover is in great condition with a lovely spine, with no creases or rubbing. The lyric insert is excellent. The only minor issue is some ringwear on the front cover (please see photos). The labels are absolutely excellent, as is the vinyl which looks as new and sounds superb.

This was Bob Stewart’s second album and contains a selection of English and American folk songs collected by Cecil Sharp. The American songs were collected in the Appalachians and sound more English than the English folksongs. Bob Stewart went on to write books and teach Occultism, Ceremonial Magic and Celtic Mythology. He has written a book about Merlin, plus books on the Underworld and Faery traditions. However, Bob Stewart the musician designed his own instrument – the concert psaltery – a 73 string table harp, which he plays on this album, as well as the guitar, banjo and cittern. Bob provides vocals on 4 of the tracks, with Albert Lightfoot singing lead vocals on 2 tracks and Laraine Stewart on another 2. With Phil Harrison (guitar and harmonium), Stuart Gordon (fiddle) and John Molineux (flutes and mandolin) accompanying him, Bob has created a fantastic album reviving a selection of traditional folksongs that Bob has arranged himself. The majority of songs are great, but there are lots of tragic tales, especially ‘Long Lankin’ and ‘Jackson and Johnson’, but the music is superb from start to finish. A great, almost forgotten album, which is a must for serious folk collectors.
