BRIEF SUMMARY

1812 were Geof Bodenham (vocals and guitar) and Derek Craft (vocals, flute and horn) and this (their only released album) was recorded live at The Black Horse Folk Club in Amberley, West Sussex. It is a hoot, and that is clear from the audience’s reaction. I have read several blogs extolling the virtues of Derek and Geof and the pleasure they gave audiences all around the country, and bemoaning the fact that this album hasn’t been reproduced on CD. Derek had also been in a band called The Black Country Three in the late 60’s with folk legends Jon and Mike Raven. Derek wrote most of the songs, which were generally adapted to some existing music eg ‘Bernard’s motor car’ is sung to the tune of Grieg’s ‘hall of the Mountain King’. You could also imagine The Two Ronnies singing ‘Two little chaps’. If this album doesn’t make you laugh, then please pass it on to someone else.
