Music review
The sleeve notes allude to this and without having been anywhere near fame (and fortune), myself, I can still relate. What is it about the music industry – not alone in this respect by any means – that when someone is ‘discovered’ or becomes well known, the ‘next big thing’, it comes with an enormous amount of baggage? Why do so many, especially nowadays, seem to be drawn to the bright lights of headlines and publicity? When there are others, equally, or more talented, who quietly go about their business whilst still being very good at what they do.
Saffron is certainly of the latter. Talented, able, great voice and songwriter and yet, hands up, outside of the world off folk, how many of us know anything about her? You have to give credit to people who have the strength and purpose to plough a furrow of something they enjoy, make a living from, are very good at, whilst not seeking that 15 minutes of fame.
Definitely worth adding to the collection. All self-penned songs, bar an excellent version of Eleanor Rigby you get a lot of quality here for your money. Check it out and wonder, if nothing else, why her parents were inspired to offer up such a great name that long ago.
