If, for some reason, you skipped the first two tracks and started off with Rock Thing it would have you checking the sleeve closely to see if this was somehow a long lost Presley track. Not long for sure but nevertheless very unusual.
As you probably know by now I really do not like pigeon holing an artist or an LP. Well, to play the first four tracks would find you really struggling to do so with this offering. I can’t say I held out much hope after ‘Saturday Morning’ but get to ‘Keep my eyes on the road’ and especially ‘Sing’ and you will find two fantastic, slightly grungy, driving tracks which will hold their own anywhere.
It’s one of the many delightful aspects of listening to the unknown. And if nothing else, you cannot be disappointed with the variety on offer here. I found it melancholic, catchy, clever and lyrically very engaging. If you know little or nothing about Peter Ransome, sadly passed back in 2017, catch up a little of his life by listening to this. It is simply compelling and disappointed you will not be.
