BRIEF SUMMARY

Sooliman Ernest Rogers, whose nickname was Rogie, used the stage name S.E. Rogie. Born in Sierra Leone and formed a band there called the Morningstars and played the traditional Leonean palm wine music, which was traditional acoustic folk music, with the addition of some calypso rhythms that came back to West Africa from the Caribbean. There is an innocence to his lyrics and a beautiful simplicity to the music that supports his rich lilting African baritone vocals. Great album from an expert of his genre – real feel good sound.
