Magic Carpet are a superb blend of Female vocals (Alisha Sufit), Sitar (Clem Alford), Guitars (Alisha Sufit) and Tablas (Pandit Dinesh) and should be considered an excellent example of psychedelic folk music with a strong Eastern influence. All of the superb lyrics were written by Alisha, as was the music with the exception ‘Underground’ with the music written by Clem Alford and the track ‘Once Moor’ completely written by Clem. This album was released 24 years after the original Magic Carpet album ‘Magic carpet’ on the famous Mushroom label. This latest album is extraordinary in its musicality and inventiveness. Alisha’ strong vocals have the subtle support of Clem and Pandit which gives a fantastic aura from start to finish. It blends English folk with Indian instrumentation and is quite unique in this regard. This album is highly recommended.
