It starts with a couple of crackles but superb after that. Excellent labels. Very simple cover with a lovely track explanation on the reverse. Corners are just a little rubbed.

Like the natural world there is a shrinking hole into which folk music appears to cling. If you get it, then fine, listen anywhere; on the tube; through the airport; whilst out for a hike. But if it isn’t something you instantly reach out for, then some attention and space is required to appreciate the niche. You almost need to be in the mood or in that space and as such I think many of us miss the point.

It definitely demands listening to. You can’t ‘Pump it up’ for 3 minutes, enjoy and move on. You need to consume, chew, appreciate the essence and tuck it away in a corner of your soul. So, when those opportunities come you can close your eyes for a few moments and imagine love in the hills, or sunny days in the dunes.

You will not get better than this. There is no better than this. From the depth of each track there is a soul, a meaning, a reasoning, something that touches and prods. But you have to give it time. You have to wear it like your favorite cardigan. Summarised by ‘Wave up to the shore’ written by his brother, it’s in the Irish DNA and by exposing yourself to this LP, you can be transported there in no more than a  few moments of closed eyes and a comfy chair.
