This was Coventry band Dando Shaft’s 3rd album release. They have a unique mixture of acoustic folk with driving rhythms (using double bass and congas) that are a great foil for the vocals of Polly Bolton (one of the best female folk vocalists from the 70’s) and Dave Cooper. Martin Jenkins, Dave Cooper and Kev Dempsey shared the acoustic duties with guitar, mandolin, violin and sitars all used. This is one of those forgotten albums, which I have loved playing (it gets better and better with each listen) and although it has a touch of the Pentangle sound, is completely valid in its own right. A must for contemporary folk fans.
