Smooth music. Late night Radio 2. A little jazz, perhaps soul there is much to grace this LP that deserves a listen. For me, it comes alive on Track 3, Moon Bathing, which shows her voice off against the backdrop of a simple mandolin accompaniment. Who doesn’t like the mandolin?
Apparently struck down by stage fright, her commercial success was limited but she was recognised as being one of the first female singer / songwriters of the time. Thankfully that has changed in recent years but back in the 70’s it was quite unusual and this LP is awash with self penned songs.
Later to ‘settle down’ in the islands off the west coast of Scotland, unknown to her fellow islanders, she sadly passed away after a long debilitating illness. What she left behind was an album that is worth cherishing. There are some fabulous songs on here that demand a listen and will grow on you as you play them. This is a legacy worth remembering and whilst she was never a big household name there is much to be admired on here. Something you can listen to any time of night or day…
