BRIEF SUMMARY
It would be fair to say, that outside of the county of Northamptonshire (a middle-England county), the name Tom Hall was little known. I cannot do justice in trying to outline the ‘unique and life-affirming character’ so I shall not try. Least to say, ‘The celebrated ratliffe stout band’ offering, was just one of his many out-pouring’s under different guises. It is pure folk, tuneful, blessed with heartache and heart and simply mesmerising. Words will not do it justice, it has to be listened to, if only as a memorial to a great English character in the world of folk, who, sadly, is no longer with us.
