A recognised humanitarian who could sing or a singer/songwriter who wanted to end world hunger? Either way, it’s not a bad epitaph, which sadly came to the fore way too early.
This LP kick started a very productive period of his recording career, selling in excess of a million copies. Each song is beautifully executed and for those of you who like a story behind a song, as a wordsmith he was probably unparalleled. In a world where we don’t pause and think enough, you need to take a moment out to listen to the value of each song. They will pass you by in the background, and they deserve some of your time. So, shut out the distractions of this mad world and relax to listen.
The sleeve notes also recognise his story telling approach by the way the words are laid out. I like it that way. It’s a well crafted offering providing a glimpse of the music shared across the American airwaves back in the mid 70’s, with origins that started a few years earlier. Well worth checking out.
